The inaugural Northern Trust Central Bank Summit is a three-day reserves management conference, designed to help Central Bank reserves managers keep abreast of the issues affecting their investment activities, provide thought leadership and knowledge transfer, and foster opportunities to network with peers and colleagues from the private sector.
Central Bank reserves managers are navigating extraordinary levels of uncertainty and disruption while having to generate positive and sustainable returns. At the same time, they are rethinking strategic asset allocations and taking leadership roles on promoting transition to a green economy.

Charles L. Evans is a 31-year veteran of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. As an advisor and policymaker attending FOMC meetings since 1995, his policy experiences span a broad set of episodes unique in post-war economic history. He became President and CEO in September 2007 and served for 15 years. During this time, Charlie was recognized as a significant strategic thought leader on the Federal Open Market Committee. His continued advocacy for transparent communications and forward guidance facilitated the Committee’s adoption of the Evans rule in December 2012, more explicit Committee projections for future policy rates, and enhancements to the long-run strategy of the Committee for making monetary policy.

Eric Williams is the Head of Capital Structure at Northern Trust Asset Management. In this capacity, Eric has broad oversight of our actively managed credit platform as well as business management and portfolio management responsibilities. As Head of Capital Structure, Eric serves as the chair of the Credit Strategy Committee and Capital Structure Committee, groups that formulate the fixed income platform's capital structure asset allocation decisions. Eric is also a voting member in the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, which sets investment policy for all Northern Trust groups in all asset classes. Prior to assuming his responsibilities, Eric managed the Northern Trust High Yield funds. Eric got his start at Northern Trust in the management training program, where he focused on asset management. Eric holds a M.B.A. with a concentration in finance and economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Angelo Manioudakis is global chief investment officer (CIO) for Northern Trust Asset Management and interim CIO for global fixed income. He is a member of the Asset Management Executive Group and chairs the Investment Policy Committee, which guides strategic and tactical asset allocation for Northern Trust portfolios. Angelo oversees investment performance, process and philosophy for approximately $1 trillion in assets.
Angelo oversees the equity, fixed income, asset allocation and alternative investment teams globally, with a focus on seeking to deliver investment strategies that compensate investors for the risks they take in all market environments.
Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2021, Angelo held leadership roles at multiple global investment firms during more than three decades in the investment industry. As chief investment officer for Fidelity Investments’ Global Asset Allocation Division, Angelo oversaw improvements in investment performance and asset growth across approximately $500 billion in assets. More recently, he co-founded Lantern Harbor Investment Partners, a Boston-based alternatives investment firm. He also led investment teams for public fixed income and derivatives at Sun Life Financial and institutional fixed income at Oppenheimerfunds.
Extending his passion for investing to community service, Angelo chairs the endowment investment committee, and serves as a trustee and Vice Chair, at the American College of Greece. Angelo also serves on the board of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Bentley University.
Rob is Head of Quantitative Equity Research at Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM). He is responsible for NTAM's factor-based research and product development.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, he was a member of the asset allocation research team at Allstate Investments, LLC.
Rob received an MBA from the University of Chicago as an Amy and Richard F. Wallman Scholar, with concentrations in Analytic Finance and Econometrics. Rob also has a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa where he studied computer science.
Virgilio Mendoza is a Senior Vice President responsible for business development with central banks and other official sector clients.
Prior to joining Northern Trust Virgil played key roles is managing various aspects of the central bank franchises at Standard Bank of South Africa, West Deutsche LandesBank, The Royal Bank of Scotland, The Industrial Bank of Japan and NatWest Bank. In this capacity Virgil has hosted over 20 central bank seminars and delivered presentations on reserves management related topics at seminars hosted by the International Monetary Fund, the Bank for International Settlements, the Bank of England Centre for Central Banking Studies, the South African Reserve Bank College, Chatham House and the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa.
In his 30 years in the business Virgil has worked in various roles, including foreign exchange, derivatives and fixed income sales, custody and securities lending business development. He has also worked as a foreign exchange trader, strategist and technical analyst. Being British-Venezuelan Virgil is a native speaker in both English and Spanish.
Michael Hunstad is deputy chief investment officer and chief investment officer of global equities for Northern Trust Asset Management. Michael is a member of the Asset Management Executive Group and has oversight of all equity portfolio management, research and trading activities including quantitative, index and tax-advantaged strategies. Additionally, he assists with the development of investment vision, strategy portfolio construction and risk management framework for the firm’s broad investment platform.\
Previously, Michael was Head of Quantitative Strategies where he was responsible for leading Northern Trust Asset Management’s factor based research, portfolio management and product development programs. Before joining Northern Trust, he was head of research at Breakwater Capital, an algorithmic trading firm and hedge fund. Prior to that role, he was head of quantitative asset allocation at Allstate Investments, LLC and a quantitative analyst with a long-short equity hedge fund.
Michael has also served as an adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Michael holds a Ph.D. in mathematics, an MBA in finance, an M.A. in econometrics and a bachelor's degree in economics.

As a long-time Federal Reserve executive, he chaired Federal Reserve System committees that oversaw strategic assessments of Federal Reserve Bank operations during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as investment activities to fund both defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans for over 20,000 employees.
Evans has taught at the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, and the University of South Carolina. He received a bachelor's degree with high honors in economics from the University of Virginia and a doctorate in economics from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
Thomas A. South serves as Chief Information Officer at Northern Trust, and is a member of the Management Group. Appointed to this role in September 2018, Tom is responsible for the global strategic vision of the Information Technology function, focused on delivering technology capabilities, solutions and thought leadership, and ensuring alignment with internal and external clients’ needs and business strategies.
Prior to his current role, Tom led the Enterprise Business Architecture function from 2016-2018, responsible for business unit strategy development, operations change management, and location strategy in support of a scalable global operating model. Previously, Tom spent two years as the Chief Operating Officer of Operations & Technology, and prior to that role was IT Director for Wealth Management, focused on development of mobile tools for customer engagement. Additionally, Tom was Director of Investment Technology for more than three years, where he planned and oversaw a comprehensive modernization of virtually all major systems supporting Northern Trust Asset Management.
Tom joined Northern Trust in an IT leadership role in the Benefit Payment Systems group in August 1999, and became Division Manager of that group in December 2001. In December 2003, he transferred into the Client Delivery Group within Technology, where he managed the development of all Wealth Management client-facing applications, including the build-out of the Wealth Passport suite of tools focused on Family Offices and the needs of their family members and partners.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Tom served in technology leadership roles at both Automated Concepts Inc. and Ace Hardware Corporation.

Grant is responsible for delivering capital market solutions to institutional clients across agency brokerage, transition management, security finance, and foreign exchange. Grant joined Northern Trust in 2004 and has served in a variety of roles including, global head of transition management, head of institutional brokerage in the Americas, and most recently head of ITS Americas.
Grant began his career at Capital Institutional Services (Capis), working in their London and Dallas offices. Prior to joining Northern Trust, he was overseeing the program trading and transition management business at Capis.
Grant has a finance degree from Trinity University, and currently holds FINRA series 7, 9, 10, 24, 55, and 63 licenses.
Ben Gord is the Head of Portfolio Implementation of global fixed income at Northern Trust Asset Management. In this role, Ben oversees the Portfolio Construction and Quantitative Research Teams, each of which supports portfolio managers, analysts, and business heads by developing systematic processes to ensure that portfolio risks are implemented both diligently and efficiently.
In addition to his management responsibilities, Ben also sits on the Fixed Income Strategy Committee, a group that formulates the fixed income platform’s strategic macroeconomic and investment themes that in turn informs overall strategy, risk budgeting and portfolio construction across all fixed income portfolios. Prior to Northern Trust, Ben held several senior portfolio management and research leadership roles at firms such as Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Wafra, OFI Global Asset Management and Ellington Management Group. Ben holds a B.A. in Economics and is A.B.D. from a Ph.D. program in economics.
Ben has over 30 years of investment experience in fixed income asset management.
Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. In this role, he briefs clients and colleagues on the economy and business conditions, prepares the bank's official economic outlook and participates in forecast surveys. He is a member of Northern Trust's investment policy committee, its capital committee, and its asset/liability management committee.
Carl publishes weekly commentaries and is frequently interviewed by media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times and Reuters.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Carl spent four years leading the Federal Reserve's risk section. He was deeply involved in the central bank's response to the 2008 financial crisis, helped to create and conduct its stress testing program, and advised senior Federal Reserve leaders on developments in banking and the financial markets.
Carl began his career in banking at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO, a global banking organization with $1 trillion in total assets. He served for more than 20 years as the organization's chief economist and head of balance sheet management.
Carl is a member and past chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee, the National Association for Business Economics, the Conference of Business Economists and the North American Asset/Liability Management Association. Carl also serves on the board of Working in the Schools (WITS), a literacy organization that supports the Chicago public school system.
Carl holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.
Ben joined Northern Trust in 2019 and leads our Digital Solutions Consulting Group globally. This group is focused on creating digital solutions for clients to support their investment decision-making, oversight and governance, including their use of data, analytics and Northern Trust or 3rd party technology solutions.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Ben was at BlackRock where he was the UK Sales Director for Unit Linked & Platforms, responsible for strategic insurance clients and UK digital D2C platforms. Prior to moving to BlackRock, Ben was at J.P. Morgan, where he was most recently EMEA Head of Technology Sales for Investor Services, responsible for the technology sales agenda and client engagement. Ben was previously responsible for Global Institutional Pension Fund strategy at J.P. Morgan, creating innovative product solutions for pension fund clients.
Before moving into financial services, Ben was a Captain in the British Army, where he served for 8 years as a bomb disposal officer.
Ben holds a BSc (hons) in Cognitive Science from the University of Exeter.
Justin Chapman leads Northern Trust’s Digital Assets and Financial Markets group, a single market facing team unifying digital and traditional market functions and providing access to market-leading expertise, industry insights and continued innovations.
The group combines teams from Northern Trust’s Digital Asset Innovation, which leads digital asset innovation; Financial Institutions Group, responsible for large, strategic relationships; and Network Management, which provides market access and insights across more than 100 traditional securities services markets around the globe.
Justin and his team are focused on developing services and capabilities that reflect and enable clients’ evolving investment strategies, providing them with market access support and holistic solutions across the full spectrum of investment types and markets.
Prior to taking on this expanded role, Justin was most recently Global Head of Market Advocacy and Innovation Research. He has also worked for organisations in the enterprise enablement, investment banking, asset management, custodial, consultancy and vendor space.
Justin has a diverse background covering the following roles: Equity Trading, Head of Trade Architecture, Global Head of Strategic Implementation, Global Head of Change Management, Global Head of Fixed Income Operations, Global Head of Tax Operations, Head of Industry Marketing, Head of Product Development and Sales, Head of Operations Asset Servicing.
In recognition of his leadership in both the areas of regulatory advocacy and driving innovation across the industries, Justin was recognized at the Global Custodian awards as the GC Person of the Year 2017 and inducted into the GC Legends hall of fame in 2019.
Justin represents the securities industry as a board member and director of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe’s (AFME). He is also an advisor to the International Securities Services Association's (ISSA).
Justin has previously held the following industry positions: chairman of International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication (ISITC) Europe, also as founder and chairman of the SWIFT International Securities Advisory Group.
Kelley is an Executive Vice President and serves as the Head of Corporate & Digital Strategy. Kelley leads the company’s strategic planning process and plays a key role in the creation of an enterprise digital strategy and roadmap to enhance our client experience, produce quicker business outcomes and improve security, stability and scalability.
Kelley brings more than 20 years of consulting experience. Kelley led Accenture’s Financial Services Technology Advisory practice in North America and Global Capital Markets Applied Intelligence practice. Prior to Accenture, she served as lead partner of Financial Services Technology Strategy, part of PwC and formerly Booz & Co.
Kelley is a recognized leader in financial services, sitting on the board of DTCC and regularly presenting at industry conferences and publishing thought leadership. Kelley has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. She is active in the Chicago community, a 2017 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and a board member of The Museum of Science and Industry Chicago.
Stephen J. Miller is a Senior Vice President at The Northern Trust Company, Chicago. He is a head of Fixed Income trading within Northern Trust Securities Inc.
Stephen has been trading credit products at Northern since 1999. He has also been instrumental in building transition management trading, as well as developing global fixed income capabilities. Prior to joining Northern Trust he was an Assistant Vice President at First of Michigan Corporation.
Stephen received his B.S. degree in Finance and Economics from Wayne State University.

Michael Slater is the Executive Director of Official Institutions that covers Central Bank and Sovereign Entities at Northern Trust. Michael is also Country Head for Africa responsible for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business.
Michael has worked in the Middle East and Africa since 1996 and joined Northern Trust in 2005 where he has held several senior leadership positions. Michael relocated to Abu Dhabi in 2008 to establish Northern Trust’s representative office, and has since relocated to Riyadh in 2013 to establish The Northern Trust Company Saudi Arabia.
Michael has 30 years of international experience in financial services. He has worked within operations, client services, relationship management, sales and held senior leadership positions across the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2005, Michael held a variety of senior positions starting in New York with Bankers Trust, relocating to Europe in 1996 where he worked with Deutsche Bank and HSBC.
Michael holds several committee positions and is an executive director for The Northern Trust Co. of Saudi Arabia.

Tom, Associate Partner, manages consulting assignments for a select number of Aon retainer and project clients. Tom is also the Global Head of Transition Management, responsible for transition management research and implementation in the U.S., the UK, and Canada. In this role, Tom is responsible for overseeing all transition management related advice Aon provides to clients when assisting in the implementation of a transition event. In the past year, Aon clients have implemented over 900 transition events totaling over $60 billion in assets. Tom is also responsible for leading the research conducted on transition management providers and distributing this research to consultants and clients across the globe.
Tom previously led the Trust Services Team focused on custody and securities lending. This team assists clients with searches for vendors in these areas and also provide assistance with structuring a custody or securities lending relationship as well as assessing the risks associated with these programs from an operational perspective.
Tom holds a B.S. degree in finance from Illinois State University and has been with firm since 2005.
Based in London, Joseph joined Northern Trust in 2016, and is responsible for the global trading strategy, capital optimization, and distribution of bonds within the Agency Lending programme. Additionally, Joseph has responsibility for the management of repurchase agreement (repo) trading, including Northern Trust’s sponsored repo capabilities through the FICC (Fixed Income Clearing Corporation).
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Joseph was a Senior Portfolio Manager at State Street Global Advisors where he was responsible for the management of securities lending investments and short-term fixed income portfolios.
Sandeep co-founded Equity Data Science (EDS) in 2017 and serves as the company’s chairman and CEO. His unique experience includes computer science, fundamental analysis, and data science. Prior to founding EDS, Sandeep was a quantitative analyst at Bridger Capital and a quantitative and fundamental analyst at Herring Creek Capital, a hedge fund founded by Steve Galbraith where he developed a proprietary quantitative platform for idea generation and risk management. Prior to that, he was a quantitative analyst at Credit Suisse where his responsibilities included portfolio and risk analysis and quantitative modeling for the Prime Brokerage and Securities desks. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2008, Sandeep developed and managed trading and risk management systems at Lehman Brothers and UBS. Sandeep received his Master of Engineering in Computer Science from Cornell University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Nadine Chakar serves as Managing Director, Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets where she oversees the firm’s digital asset technology (formerly Securrency), partnering with clients and key stakeholders to transform and evolve their operating models and create new digital asset services. She is also member of the DTCC Executive Committee.
Prior to DTCC, Nadine was Chief Executive Officer at Securrency, a provider of institutional-grade digital asset technology that was acquired by DTCC in October 2023. Before that, she was Executive Vice President and Head of State Street Digital, where she oversaw the setup of a new integrated business and operating model to support clients’ entire digital investment cycle from pre-trade, trade, and post-trade, as well as initiatives to enhance client experience. Previously, Nadine served as Executive Vice President and Head of State Street Global Markets and also held roles with Manulife and BNY Mellon.
During her career, Nadine has received a number of awards, including in 2023 as one of American Banker’s most influential women in Fintech and in 2020, 2021 and 2022 as one of American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Finance. In 2022, she was also recognized as one of Forbes Magazine’s 50 over 50.
Nadine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance from Boston University. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Boston Medical Center and is a member of the CFTC’s Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC) and co-chair of the Digital Asset Subcommittee workstream covering Tokenization Infrastructure.
Daniel Clifton is a Partner and Head of Policy Research for Strategas Securities. In this capacity, Mr. Clifton evaluates the financial market implications of policy and political developments. This includes analyzing tax, trade, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, defense and other policy initiatives to determine how public policy changes impact the economy and financial markets for institutional investors.
Daniel leads Strategas’ Washington policy research team, which has been ranked as one of the top policy research teams on Wall Street for 15 consecutive years according to Institutional Investor. Mr. Clifton is also a top ranked analyst in the category of Tax and Accounting policy.
Currently, Daniel is ranked as the top Independent research analyst on Wall Street, across all research verticals, according to the same Institutional Investor survey.
Mr. Clifton’s research on the interaction between policy, elections, and financial markets is widely cited in the media and Daniel is a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business.
Prior to joining Strategas, Mr. Clifton was Executive Director of the American Shareholders Association (ASA), a non-partisan, non-profit organization which analyzes public policy affecting shareholders. Daniel also worked on tax policy issues prior to the ASA and has been involved in every major tax policy change over the past twenty years. Prior to moving to Washington, Mr. Clifton served as a senior staff member in two gubernatorial administrations working on economic and fiscal policy issues.
Mr. Clifton received both his BA in Urban Planning and his MS in Public Policy from Rutgers University where he was a Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and a Harold Martin Fellow for Public Policy.
Deborah L. Koch is a Senior Vice President at The Northern Trust Company, Chicago. She is a Senior Research Analyst in the Capital Structure Research division with coverage across Technology, Media and Telecom industries. She was also the Co-Manager of the Northern Trust Technology Fund from 2004-2017, and the Northern Trust Midcap Fund from 2003-2006.
Deborah was Co-Chair of the CFA Chicago Society Research Challenge, a global business school competition in equity analysis, from 2012-2023.
Prior to joining Northern Trust as a Vice President in May of 2003, Deborah was a Portfolio Manager/Senior Analyst specializing in technology at Strong Capital Management from 2000-2003 Managing Director of Scudder Kemper Investments from1992-2000, where she was a Senior Technology Analyst and Co-Manager of the Kemper Technology Fund
and a Technology analyst at Stein, Roe & Farnham from 1985-1992.
Deborah received a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Rhode Island and an M.B.A. degree from DePaul University.
Professor Nagel’s research focuses on asset pricing, investor behavior, and the formation of investor expectations. His most recent work explores the role of personal experiences in shaping expectations about the macroeconomy and financial market returns, models of investor learning about long-run growth with decaying memory, and the application of machine learning techniques to understand the risk and return of investment strategies in the stock market. Nagel has won various awards for his research, among them the Smith-Breeden Prize of the American Finance Association for the best paper in the Journal of Finance in 2004 and the Fama/DFA prize for the best asset pricing paper in the Journal of Financial Economics in 2006 and 2020 (first prize) and 2010 (second prize).
Professor Nagel served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Finance, one of the leading academic finance journals in the world, from 2016 to 2022. Previously, he was an editor at the Review of Financial Studies from 2014-2015 and an associate editor at various top journals. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, MA) and a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London, UK) and CESifo (Munich, Germany). He is vice-president-elect of the Western Finance Association.
Before joining Booth, Nagel taught at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business (2013-17), Stanford Graduate School of Business (2004-13) and in the Economics Department at Harvard University (2003-04). He received his PhD from the London Business School in 2003 and his Diplom (M.S. equiv.) in Business Economics from the University of Trier (Germany) in 1999.
Timothy Johnson is the Head of Portfolio Solutions and member of the global fixed income team at Northern Trust Asset Management. In this capacity, Timothy heads three key groups within global fixed income: the passive/index business, portfolio construction, and quantitative research. In addition, Timothy is also a member of the Fixed Income Strategy Committee, a group that formulates the fixed income platform’s strategic macroeconomic and investment themes that in turn informs overall strategy, risk budgeting and portfolio construction across all fixed income portfolios. Timothy is also a Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager for several diversified fixed income portfolios and multi-asset class tactical strategies. Prior to Northern Trust, Timothy led various portfolio management teams at BNP Paribas Asset Management, and held senior portfolio management positions at BlackRock and De Nederlandsche Bank. He also held various management and analyst positions in the Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Timothy holds a B.A. in economics, an M.B.A. in finance and a Master of Public Policy. He has over 25 years of investment experience in fixed income asset management.
Mike has been with Northern Trust for just over 20 years and currently leads emerging technology efforts with a focus on data science and machine learning innovation. A thought leader and visionary for smart machine/AI and distributed ledger (DL) disruption and their potential impact on business outcomes. A unique hands-on technology background, combining strong academic theory, hardware and software design and development provide a deep understanding and practical view on many industry transformational efforts and trends.
Anwiti Bahuguna, Ph.D., is chief investment officer of global asset allocation for Northern Trust Asset Management. She is responsible for managing investment performance, process and philosophy for multi-asset strategies globally. Anwiti leads NTAM’s strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation and capital market assumptions, and oversees the portfolio construction group and multi-manager business. With 25 years of investment industry experience, Anwiti has built and strengthened global investment teams and developed multi-asset strategies using equities, fixed income and alternative investments. In her two decades at Columbia Threadneedle, she served as head of U.S. multi-asset strategy and was responsible for approximately $45 billion in assets under management. Additionally, Anwiti was lead portfolio manager for the firm’s asset allocation funds and separately managed accounts. She also contributed to the firm’s capital market assumptions, strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation, manager selection and derivative overlays. Anwiti earned a doctorate in economics from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. She serves on the Board of Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust, where she is also a member of the finance committee. Anwiti frequently has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Barron’s and has been interviewed on CNBC and Bloomberg.

Prior to the ValueExchange, Barney worked for over 20 years in the post-trade capital markets space. Until 2018, he led Standard Chartered Bank’s custody business in Asia and prior to that he launched BNP Paribas’ custody business in Asia.
Gerard leads Northern Trust’s Global Banking & Markets Client Solutions group, covering Equities, Fixed Income, FX and Securities Finance. He is responsible for matching Banking & Markets solutions to client needs, including new business development, Target Operating Models and strategic client relationships. Gerard joined Northern Trust in May 2016 with the acquisition of Aviate Global where he was Chief Business Officer.
Before joining Aviate Global in 2014, Gerard spent 10 years at Schroder Investment Management where he had held a number of senior roles in institutional client-facing operational and project management. Prior to Schroders, Gerard headed business change management at Telewest Communications (now Virgin Media) and worked in the consulting industry for Accenture and Deloitte.
Gerard started his career with Mobil Oil in his native New Zealand before moving to Europe in 1998 to complete an MBA at SDA-Bocconi in Italy.
Kraig Knas is a Senior Vice President in FICC sales. He is responsible for providing sales coverage in the Midwest for institutional clients such as asset managers, hedge funds, pensions, and corporate treasuries, concentrating in G-3 interest rate swaps and government bonds.
Mr. Knas has been in institutional sales since 2010, starting his career at Royal Bank of Scotland in Stamford, CT with a focus on interest rate sales. He moved to Chicago in 2013, joining Barclays to concentrate in macro sales. He joined Citadel Securities in 2016 and has helped spearhead its expansion into new products such as inflation, STRIPS, and credit trading.
Mr. Knas received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Duke University and an MBA from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Miguel is Head of the Toronto Innovation Hub Centre within the Bank for International settlements. His role is to contribute to the creation of digital financial public goods such as settlement systems, identity solutions and open finance environments. Before this position, Miguel was the head of Payment Systems and Financial Market Infrastructures at the Central Bank of Mexico where he guided the development, operation, analysis, and regulation of financial market infrastructures. He oversaw the modernization of the payment systems in Mexico, directed the creation of a fast payment system denominated in dollars, and was deeply involved in the development of the operational and regulatory strategy of the Central Bank regarding financial market infrastructures, including CBDC and the inclusion of new market participants in the ecosystem and the opening of the market to open finance solutions. In his previous roles he directed strategic planning and managed macro-financial analysis for the Bank of Mexico, and he is an Economist with a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
John McCareins, CAIA, CIMA, is head of international and leads Northern
Trust Asset Management's business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
(EMEA) and across the Asia Pacific (APAC). John serves on the Asset
Management Executive Group with oversight of regional and country
strategies, daily operations, regulatory affairs, relationships with other
businesses, and the development of local capabilities tailored to the
regional clientele. Additionally, he is the CEO of Northern Trust Global
Investments Ltd. and serves on multiple Northern Trust subsidiary boards
and governance committees including the Northern Trust Company of Hong Kong, Northern Trust Global Investments Japan and the APAC Business Risk Committee.
John previously was the head of asset management for the APAC region,
where he was responsible for strategic growth initiatives and oversaw
investment strategy, relationship management and sales teams based in
Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Australia, as well as global equity
portfolio management and trading from Hong Kong. Prior to that role, he
served as the outsourced chief investment officer practice focused on
retirement assets within Northern Trust's multi-manager solutions group.
He led a team that oversaw multi-asset programs with more than $60
billion in assets for asset owners globally. John's previous experience also
includes client relationship management with Northern Trust and mutual
fund sub-advisory product development with T. Rowe Price.
John has an MBA from Dartmouth College and a bachelor's degree in
psychology from Northwestern University. John is a CAIA® charterholder
and has attained the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA)
designation. He is also an Accredited Asset Management Specialist
designee and a Certified Treasury Professional designee.

Jessica joined Exelon from Northern Trust Asset Management where she led Northern Trust’s Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (“OCIO”) Retirement Assets Practice. During her 22 years at Northern Trust, Jessica held various leadership roles and has experience in asset allocation, liability driven investing, manager selection and portfolio construction.
